I just wanted to write and tell anyone who was interested in using Cutting Edge service about the experience my husband and I had with them. We recently put our home on the market due to a relocation and we needed to sell fast! Steve Rotthoff came to our home, FREE of charge and did a complete walk through. He told us everything we needed to do to make our house ready to sell. He noticed things we would have never thought to do. He had an eye for even the smallest detail that ended up making a huge impact in the bottom line. The results were amazing, our agent could not believe the changes! Steve worked fast and had no problem letting us help out to defray the cost of labor. Our curb appeal alone went from a level 3 to a "10" in just 3 days. Cutting Edge was meticulous about cleaning up after all painting projects and all other work. He was able to contact carpet cleaners at the last minute and other workers to help move out furniture to help stage the house. My husband and I could not have gotten the house on the market without him. We only wish he could have traveled to Illinois with us to help with the things on our new house. Steve is trustworthy, skilled and highly motivated to get the job done. I can't say enough about all his services. Selling is so stressful, but Steve made the whole process much easier. I only wish we could have had his suggestions earlier.

When I was in the need of a Handy Man, I procrastinated looking for one. It was a task I had not had good luck with in the past. I tried a new approach this time, I stopped to pray about this and asked God to help me find someone. After a few days I called our church, and asked Pastor Pat if she had a name for me. She indeed did, and had glowing words for Steve. He had not only worked on her house but her daughters home as well. I gave Steve a call for what I thought was going to be many small jobs. But the first and most important was a leak in our kitchen. When I went to buy a new dishwasher we found mold behind it and that was the start of my new kitchen. Steve found mold saturated walls behind the counters and a water saturated subfloor that was ready to fall apart. I was devastated and overwhelmed. Steve assured me he could take care of the whole thing, I was more then a little skeptical at that statement. Here I am now, a few weeks later, with a beautiful new kitchen that is so much more functional for our family. I now have twice the amount of storage and counter space. My kitchen is beautiful and we were able to stay on budget as well as a reasonable time frame. Steve actually finished the job a week early. Steve's workmanship is great and he makes sure all the small details are taken care of. Here we are at the end of this project, I am able to cross off the check list that I and most people look for when hiring someone.

However I found the most important things to me about Steve were not on that list. I never had to hear our Lord's name said in vain. I didn't have to hear about someone's drunken binge. I never had to worry about what my kids were going to hear. I didn't need to worry about my family being exposed to inappropriate music. I had never left my kids home alone in the house with a worker before. For the first time, I felt safe to do that with Steve. My kids adore Steve and think he is very funny. Steve went above and beyond what I expected. He turned out to be so much more then a handy man. He was my contractor, carpenter, electrician, and plumber. More importantly, Steve is a Godly man, a man with integrity, a man who adores his wife and still lights up when he talks about her. He is a man who loves being a father, and truly realizes that job is a gift from God. These may not be on the regular list that we look for when hiring someone. But it speaks volumes as to what kind of character he has. Character may be more important then anything, when inviting someone into your home for a month. At the end of this job, I not only found a great handy man who I will use again, but I found a man who I am proud to call a friend.

Steve and his crew got our house in sale-able condition (with a new kitchen floor, a new paint job in all our rooms, new cabinet fixtures, a new living room ceiling, new window blinds), and we got an offer two weeks after it went on the market... in the summer of 2009! We liked what he did so much, we hired him to put in a new bar in our basement to replace the "mother-in-law kitchen." Steve built a new bar from scratch, into which we can slide our chest freezer/kegerator. It's so cool! He also put in a new hardwood floor in the kitchen, a new tile backsplash and stainless steel sink, and he repainted the basement and put in new window blinds.
Steve does such a professional job and his prices are so reasonable, it's hard to stop at just one project! We are going to have him redo our bathroom, and there's no telling what else we are going to have him do. This guy is the best!
I live in California and own two properties in MN. I was so lucky to have found Steve with the problems that I have had with both houses. After being told that one house needed to be painted, Steve went to work and painted the outside of the house in an amazing amount of time and at a reasonable price.
Shortly after, I had a problem with the second house. The tenants were asked to leave for non-payment and left the house with lots of work to be done. Entire inside needed painting, many repairs and a lot of personal things that were left that needed to be discarded. It was a total mess. Steve talked with me and went room by room not leaving out the smallest detail of what needed to be done to get the house ready for another family to move in. He painted the inside of the house, did all of the repairs, housecleaners and carpet cleaners, debris boxes and everthing! He did just what he said he would and all this within a week. I am grateful to Steve for his help and he works within a timeframe and sticks with it. Very fair and reasonable price. I would not hesitate to refer him and call him the next time I need help. He is a very fine person and trustworthy. I like his honesty!
